Comparison of DCT and Wavelet Based OFDM System Working in 60 GHz Band

چکیده
At the 60 GHz band a massive amount of spectral space (5 GHz) has been allocated unlicensed worldwide for dense wireless local communications. OFDM has gained much popularity in the field of wireless communication because of its ability to transfer the data at higher rate, high bandwidth efficiency and robustness to multipath and delay. The BER performance of conventional FFT-OFDM system is compared with DWT-OFDM system and DCT-OFDM system in an AWGN environment and Saleh-Valenzuela (SV) channel model at 60 GHz. Several wavelets such as Haar, Daubechies, Symlet, biorthogonal are considered. The BER is calculated for signaling format BPSK and the performance is analyzed at 60 GHz.Simulation results show that DCT based scheme yields the lowest average bit error rate. While out of all wavelet mother used Haar and Daubechies wavelet based scheme yields lower BER than FFTOFDM for an AWGN channel. Whereas SV channel model working at 60 GHz FFT-OFDM performs best amongst the three.

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is used in order to provide immunity against very hostile multipath channels in many modern communication systems.. The OFDM technique divides the total available frequency bandwidth into several narrow bands. In conventional OFDM, FFT algorithm is used to provide orthogonal subcarriers. Intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interferen...

Microring resonators (MRRs) can be used to generate optical millimetre-wave solitons with a broadband frequency of 40–60 GHz. Non-linear light behaviours within MRRs, such as chaotic signals, can be used to generate logic codes (digital codes). The soliton signals can be multiplexed and modulated with the logic codes using an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique to transm...
